Life Saving Technology
Installation with medical equipment and computer
Kongju Cultural and Art Hall, South Korea 1999
Description:
A tree is treated like any patient in an emergency room, with nutrition through an IV, EKG and CPR. A Basic Stamp computer is controlling the whole process, including the wellbeing of the tree.
The ”patient” is ill, its pulse weak. From time to time the tree is having a cardiac arrest. The technology immediately reacts and gives information to the defibrillator fastened to the tree to act, by shaking the tree violently. The pulse briefly becomes stronger, but despite CPR the pulse then again weakens.
The life-saving attempts are not successful.
